ForeverWater Tabletop Distiller

Maintenance and Cleaning

These tabletop units are designed for years of trouble free operation.
The water provided to the distiller must be softened. If your water is not softened the distiller may load up with scale over time. ForeverWater offers small inexpensive in-line softeners. Your warranty will be voided without soft water.

A) Use a cup to check the discharge water coming out of the waste hose.
B) If the water does not drip steadily;
1. check/change the filter in the pretreatment package.
2. replace the flow restrictor.

C) Take a hardness test strip and test the water in the cup. There should be no hardness. Use the provided hardness test strips to determine the hardness in the feed water. Use the chart provided to determine the frequency of softener replacement or regeneration. New softener cartridges are available from ForeverWater. Softener regeneration kits are also available from ForeverWater.

D) Softener regeneration
1. Remove the spent softener cartridge from its’ housing.
2. Place the spent cartridge in the second housing.
3. Add salt or Potassium Chloride to the cartridge in the First housing.
4. Turn on the feed water and allow water to slowly run through the cartridges. Allow the softener to recharge for 5 minutes.
5. Remove the recharged cartridge from the second housing and it is ready to use.

E) It is also recommended that a wall plug timer be added to your power cord. This will allow you to set the running time necessary to fill a bottle of your choice. The container you fill
must be tasteless and odorless i.e. PETE (polyethylene terephthalate), glass etc. Any plastic container will make your pure water taste like plastic! An open container placed in your refrigerator will pick up odors. Close your containers!
